An ats-mini receiver has moved into the shack. This small but fine device is specifically used for shortwave reception without having to boot up the NUC. It is also suitable for quickly checking reception possibilities from Asia, for example, as can be seen here in the video, CNR1 1521 kHz can be heard very clearly. Once you've got used to the mirror frequencies, the ats-mini performs very well. It is connected to the K9AY with an antenna selector switch. This also makes local FM long-distance reception a great experience.

Shack news

Send a magic SMS to the SIM card of the GSM switch and turn my S3 on and off whenever I want. Thanks to the two 12V inputs on the S3, time switches and direct switches can be selected elegantly. Reason for the measure: reducing the power consumption of the solar system.

Recently I had this problem again: I made a mistake when programming the times for recordings. I only noticed it when I checked its functionality online that evening. The recording wanted to start, but stopped because the S3 could not be initialized due to the error.

Restarting the NUC didn't help. I can't switch the S3 remotely. It is started and ended by a timer. If the S3 is already running after starting the SDR software, it will not connect. I have already developed detailed instructions for this:

So if the S3 doesn't start as described, you're out of luck remotely. The remote system is not working.

If you're lucky, everything works again after a restart, but only if the S3 is switched on after starting the software.

This is unacceptable for a device in this price range.

ELAD Tmate TM-2

First remove the dust from Italy on the device. After all, it was just as dry there as it was here in the summer of 2022. The beautifully designed controller is well packaged and comes with a self-printed operating manual.

The most important part of the operator, the rotary knob, reacts a bit wobbly to the first touch, but it is still a long way from the joystick. Memory notes: the button is worse than the R-4C or 9R59DS, but they also didn't have a push button underneath to increase the increment.
